This notice covers the Travel Companions website at travel-companions.com ("Travel Companions", "we", "us"). The service itself has not launched yet. Today the site does two things: it shows you this page and it lets you join a waitlist.

What we collect when you join the waitlist

We do not ask for your name, age, phone number or address, and we do not collect payment details.
Where it is stored
The waitlist is stored with Upstash Redis, a database service that may keep copies of it in more than one country, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore. If you are outside those countries, or in a different one, your details are transferred to them for storage. Access is limited to us, through a private access token. We do not sell your details and we do not share them with anyone for their own use.
Why we use it
We use your email address to tell you about the launch of Travel Companions. We will email you about the launch, and nothing else. The time, country, pricing-test label, campaign tags and referral tag are used only to count sign-ups and to judge demand and pricing, for example how many people joined from each link and from which countries. We do not use them to identify you or to send you anything.
How long we keep it
We keep each sign-up until 6 months after we send the launch email, and never longer than 18 months from the day you joined. If you ask us to remove it sooner, we will. Each sign-up is set to be deleted automatically at the 18 month limit.
Removing your details
Email hello@travel-companions.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to remove it. You can also ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
Messages you send us
Messages to hello@travel-companions.com are forwarded to, and stored in, a Google Gmail inbox. We use them only to reply to you.
Other services that see your visit
- Hosting. The site is served by Vercel, which receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, as any web host does, and keeps ordinary server logs.
- Fonts. The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads.
- Visitor statistics. Google Analytics 4, described below.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. We have set it up with Google Consent Mode, with everything switched off until you choose.
- Before you choose, or if you press Reject: no analytics cookies are set. Google's tag still loads and may receive basic, cookieless signals about the visit, such as the page address and your browser type. Like any web request, it also reaches Google's servers from your IP address.
- If you press Accept: Google Analytics sets cookies named
_gaand_ga_MHTRYY9KM9in your browser to recognise repeat visits, and records events such as viewing the page and joining the waitlist. - Advertising: we do not run ads. Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation are switched off, and Google signals are disabled.
- Your choice is remembered in one cookie of ours,
tc_consent, for 180 days. Rejecting after accepting deletes the Google Analytics cookies.
Changes
If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and its date. If we start using your email for something new, we will ask you first.
